Rubensteins to Reality Liberation

Martin and singer/songwriter Ken Corbett first crossed paths in the late 1980s when they were members of 'The Rubensteins', a band that, despite its short tenure, laid the foundation for a lasting musical partnership. Following their time in 'The Rubensteins', Ken joined the band 'Sound' while Martin moved on to 'Choke', both carving out their individual musical identities.

The mid-1990s marked a pivotal moment for Martin as he began his solo project under the name 'Resonator'. Signing with Ninebar Records, he released the EP 'Northern Lights' and the album 'Telharmonium'. In a different direction, he also put out a drum and bass EP titled 'Herb N' Decay' as 'Dub Culture'. Despite their separate journeys, Martin and Ken maintained their connection, collaborating and sharing ideas. Resonator's recorded version of Ken’s song 'Out of My Head' stands as a testament to their ongoing creative partnership, alongside various recordings that included contributions from Camtan Ringel, Martin’s former bandmate from Choke.

During this time, Ken made his way back to his roots in Ireland, building a home in a secluded area, while the music they had created was temporarily set aside. Tragically, in 2017, the music community mourned the loss of Camtan, who left behind a wealth of vocal performances and unfinished tracks on Martin’s hard drives. Among these recordings were also Ken's vocals from numerous incomplete works.

In 2020, realizing the importance of these unfinished pieces, Martin decided to breathe new life into the music. This led to the formation of 'The Reality Liberation Front' and the eventual release of the album 'Tell Me About It'. This project not only honors the legacy of their collaboration but also brings to light the creativity and inspiration that has defined their shared journey, making a mark on the music scene once again.

Since the album debuted, Martin and Ken have continued to collaborate, utilizing the internet as their creative bridge. They have already released new songs, with more in the pipeline, ensuring their musical journey remains vibrant and ongoing.

'Tell Me About It' is the first album by The Reality Liberation Front. Featuring vocals by Ken Corbett and the late Camtan Ringel, it was released in July 2020.
